What Have I Become?

December 3rd, 2006

For the last 5 months or so I have not posted a blog on anything. Though there have been many times in my writing that I have considered putting something up here, I never felt the Spirit leading me to do it. This morning though at church I really had a burden to share in this way what has been going on most recently in my life. Though not a substitute for real conversation, I feel that anyone who would actually check this site after 5 months will probably care about what I am saying, and you are the people that I really would like to communicate this to. So here we go… Read the rest of this entry »

Have We Neglected Our Salvation?

July 9th, 2006

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. – Hebrews 2:1

Clearly, salvation in and through Jesus Christ is a great thing. Salvation restores our relationship with God as it was intended to be and allows us direct communion and a direct relationship with the Father. Jesus came as a man and suffered and died that we might not taste death. Triumphing over the devil and bearing our sins on the cross, He gives us victory from the bondage of fear and sin, that we no longer have to walk with futile minds, having our understanding darkened and our hearts blinded. Sin no longer shackles us to this world and death no longer has a sting. We are delivered of these things even to the point that we are called “new creations or “new creatures. This transformation is huge and with it comes what is truly a completely new life. In this new life we are to be ambassadors to the world on behalf of Christ while simultaneously becoming ministers of reconciliation to these same people. This new life is defined by two objectives: to know Jesus in a more intimate way, and to make Him known to others through this same pursuit of Him.

But, here is the deal: It is impossible for us to do any of this mentioned above. It does not matter what level of commitment and determination we have (or we think we have), or how learned we are in the Scriptures, we can not do it. We will fail. It takes something supernatural. It takes the Holy Spirit. Satan is more powerful than we are. Even his demons are more powerful than we, and it is foolish for us to think that we are suitable enough to fight this battle against the rulers of this darkness and the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places without supernatural help.

So let us talk supernatural here. This is what I have heard: Read the rest of this entry »

Preparation of the Heart

May 17th, 2006

“The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. - Proverbs 16:1

Have you prepared your heart today? The battle rages on. Satan never stops trying to advance his kingdom. Are you advancing the kingdom of God? He is coming at us with armored tanks and fighter jets; are you fighting back with merely sticks because you haven’t prepared? This is a battle of eternal consequences. Are you prepared to fight today? Read the rest of this entry »

My Mind

May 15th, 2006

Knowledge is such a crazy thing. There is so much of it every where, and yet so little of it is truly needed to love a completely full life.

Recently, I have been thinking about what I know and how my mind works, and this has led me down a path of realization that I did not expect. I have come to realize that my mind does not function in a manner that I would expect that many Biblical scholars would think. For example, I have never been able to remember quotes from movies. Whether it be a plot or even just a few catch phrases, I can’t ever remember it, no matter how hard I try. It peaks my interest, and I try to remember it, but I have no long term retention of this stuff at all. On the other hand, I constantly remember lyrics from songs that I used to hear randomly in elementary school. This I do not understand, but I think it applies largely to my spiritual life. Ambassadors for Christ

May 13th, 2006

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ…” - 2 Corinthians 5:20

Every time in the past when I have read this verse, I have been forced to meditate on just the sheer magnitude of what it means to be an “ambassador” for Christ and to reflect on what my witness has been amongst the lost. And again, this is the point that I have come to.

Recently, the Lord has been showing me how critical it is for us to take the gospel to people, not just in words or phrases that we have memorized, almost as a recited presentation, but rather in a manner that will speak into an individual’s life. Read the rest of this entry »
